THE ELOPEMENT OF MY DREAMS

EpicElopement.jpg

WELCOME TO THE MOODY, ECLECTIC, DISCO ELOPEMENT OF YOUR DREAMS… on a budget, bitch.

This was my first completely styled and totally DIY’d photoshoot. It started as a lightbulb of an idea in my whacky little brain and manifested into the elopement of my dreams.

HOW IT BEGAN

I have been wanting to fine tune my brand and focus on what I am passionate about:bad ass couples who want to celebrate their love creatively and authentically. Couples who are going to snowboard down a mountain after they say “I do” (Danielle + Denim, I’m looking at you). The ones who may get their clothes dirty because they were running in the rain. Lovers who love and giggle so hard that by the end of the night their abs are sore. I want what I wish my husband and I did for our own love story… So, I created it.

HOW WE PLANNED

First, I created my moodboard. I knew I wanted something that was moody (like my editing style) but fun and whimsical (like love is) and I ended up with this:

*I found all the images for this mood board on Pinterest.

Next was ordering and gathering the materials. The only constraints I gave myself was a budget of $3,000 and making this styled photoshoot something that could feasibly happen for any couple seeking to elope.

DID YOU KNOW…

The average cost of a wedding (as of 2019) is  $33,900!? NOT ON MY WATCH.

Altogether, this styled shoot cost $1,455. That is about 4% of the average cost of a wedding.

*Now granted, we didn’t shoot an actual wedding which would require a few more expenses, but that is still pretty forkin’ cool.

HOW WE PULLED IT OFF

I asked Mel + Marc to film and to capture my intentions for this day.We met Tonya + Ryan at their CUTE Airbnb. I did detail shots here, Tonya did her own make-up, and Mel did her hair.

WATCH THE MAGIC HAPPEN

Then we set out to find the dopest graffiti + alleyways possible. And we succeeded.

We tried to finish the day at the skatepark, but security kicked us out… So, you best believe your girl did NOT give up, and neither did Tonya + Ryan. So, I sent an email to the establishment, got permission for our shoot, and we woke up at the butt crack of dawn to finish my vision.

WHAT NOW

Now, I hope these photos excite couples as much as they still excite me. I hope they inspire people to tell their love stories how they want to, and not how anyone else thinks they should. Want to wear Vans? PLEASE DO. Want to roller-skate? I’ll hold your hand. Want to run from security? I’ll be right behind you.Let’s Get Weird
