BLACK LIVES MATTER MOVEMENT
There’s no way I’m going to sit here and spew out into my own words about my thoughts on everything I’ve learned [most especially in these last few weeks] about racism, white privilege, and the history of how black people and people of color have been treated for centuries. I refuse to let the systems that were created to make our nation better tear us into pieces. I have been teaching my children what the text books leave out. I will not let them grow up thinking that racism 1. doesn’t exist 2. can’t be changed and 3. that their voices can’t do something about how this world evolves. I will be actively doing this for the rest of their lives. Their futures depend on this + that is why this movement needs momentum.
I am going to list all of the resources I’ve been using to spread awareness + educate myself. I hope you use the crap out of them because this is not over. It hasn’t been over for centuries. The abolishment of slavery WAS NOT THAT LONG AGO. America is not progressive, it’s oppressive. Please, for the love of all things beautiful in this world, be apart of this change.
“I AM NO LONGER ACCEPTING THE THINGS I CANNOT CHANGE. I AM CHANGING THE THINGS I CANNOT ACCEPT.”
LIST OF RESOURCES:
*I will be updating this to reflect where the movement is currently. I will be trying to keep up with this as actively as I possibly can.
